Navasana & Malasana, otherwise known as boat pose & squat pose – two of my all time favourites!! Both are wonderful postures that can be adapted to be accessible to individuals in varying ways, I love the versatility of these postures, in addition to the many physiological benefits they offer: strengthening the core, legs, back, arms, as well as opening the ankles, feet, hips and lower back. I also find them both to be great opportunities to focus the mind during longer holds! An awesome combination if you ask me 😉
I had a lovely little malasana practice on a chilly winter day recently. All variations on the traditional squat are some of my favourite ways to release the back & hips, such a lovely way to find balance AND the beautiful mountains/sky as a backdrop makes an outdoor winter practice all the more worthwhile!!!
